• David Freudenthal joined Crowell & Moring to be senior counsel of the firm’s Environment and Natural Resources Group. Freudenthal was the governor of Wyoming for two terms, finishing his final term in January. He also served as a visiting professor for the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2010. Before that, Freudenthal worked for the Clinton administration as the U.S. attorney for the district of Wyoming.
• DCI Group has hired Beneva Schulte and Kevin McLaughlin to be new vice presidents of the firm. Schulte recently served on the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission as chief deputy director, managing communications. Other highlights of Schulte’s career include working as national communications director for Chris Dodd for President and as chief of staff for Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.). McLaughlin worked recently for Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) as communications director. He also worked for State Department media affairs and for the Republican National Committee.
{mosads}• Liz Reilly is joining the National Confectioners Association as the vice president of government affairs. Reilly recently left the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where she was the executive director of special initiatives. Before that, she worked for the National Paint and Coatings Association, where she focused on the grassroots, lobbying and public outreach areas.
• David Bauer has joined the Association of Global Automakers to be manager of state affairs. Bauer most recently left the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, where he was judicial law clerk. Previously, he worked briefly in the House of Representatives. He also served as a chief of staff in the Maryland House of Delegates.
• KMB Consulting has re-launched with Marcus Brandon back at the helm after his one-year campaign hiatus. Brandon’s group will be expanding its fundraising consulting services nationwide for campaigns and nonprofits to include individual packages such as event management or field plans. The group that will also provide full campaign consulting services has worked with clients such as Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio).
• Dan Maffei is joining Mannat, Phelps & Phillips to be a senior adviser within the Government and Regulatory Policy Division. Maffei served in the House of Representatives for one term. During his time in Congress, he was on the Financial Services and Judiciary committees. Before that, he worked for Pinnacle Capital Management as a senior vice president. He also worked for former Sen. Bill Bradley (D-N.J.), former Sen. Daniel Moynihan (D-N.Y.) and on the House Ways and Means staff.
