• GeyerGorey has hired two former Justice Department officials, Allen P. Grunes and Maurice E. Stucke, to join its Washington office. Grunes will become a partner, while Stucke will serve as counsel. At Justice, they were involved in the successful litigation allowing the government to receive compensation and participate in a class-action lawsuit. Grunes comes from a private sector firm, and Stucke is a professor at the University of Tennessee, where he will continue to work.

• A. Marisa Chun, a former Justice Department attorney, joined McDermott Will & Emery as a partner in the global firm’s trial practice group. Before that, she served as the deputy associate attorney general in Washington, overseeing intellectual property, healthcare fraud and antitrust issues. She also worked as the special assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia from 2011 to 2013 and for the District of Maryland in 2012. 

{mosads}• Crowell & Moring hired Mary Anne Mason to be a partner in its antitrust practice group in Washington. Prior to that, she worked at the firm DLA Piper. She specializes in winning federal approval for mergers and counseling clients on regulatory compliance issues. She also serves as pro bono counsel to the Maine Lobstermen’s Association.

• Terry Arbit, the ex-deputy general counsel for legislative and intergovernmental affairs at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), has become a partner at Fulbright & Jaworski. Arbit joined the CFTC in 1996 and spent five years an attorney at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation before that.

• The law firm Venable has named Po Yi, a former vice president and chief advertising counsel for American Express, as a partner in its New York office. Yi had been with American Express for five years and worked as the chief counsel to the company’s chief marketing officer and its global advertising and brand management group. 

• Glenn D. Prager became a senior compliance officer in Arent Fox’s healthcare practice. Before that, he worked as the inspector general of the State of Arizona and oversaw the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System. He has also held posts at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Justice Department.
