Bottom Line

• CYBERSECURITY. LifeLock, an identity theft protection company, registered its first in-house lobbyist, Kimberly Allman. The company opened its Washington office last fall and hired Allman as the vice president of government affairs and corporate social responsibility. She will be working on “issues related to online safety, InfoSec, financial services, consumer protection and data security,” disclosure forms say. Prior to joining LifeLock, she worked as the director of government relations at the Corporation for National and Community Service in the Obama administration. LifeLock has the K Street firms Ogilvy Government Relations and Polaris Government Relations on retainer.

• TAX REFORM. As Republicans take control of both the legislative and executive branches, hopes for tax reform are rising. To build on years of preparation and proposals, key players in Washington are ramping up engagement with Capitol Hill. As of December, Washington Council Ernst & Young began working on tax reform measures for the National Association of Home Builders, new disclosures show. Ray Beeman will serve as the lobbyist on the account.

{mosads}• FINANCIAL SERVICES REFORM. Capital One hired Eris Group, a shop specializing in financial services issues, as its fifth lobbying firm. Travis Johnson — former deputy chief of staff for former Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) and aide on the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Economic Policy — will act as the lobbyist on the account. Disclosure forms say that Eris Group will primarily be focused on financial services reform as established under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform law.

• NEW BUSINESS. Farragut Partners signed six new clients: AT&T, CTIA-The Wireless Association, LiveNation, the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, biotechnology company Gilead Sciences and Edwards Lifesciences, which specializes in making artificial heart valves. Lobbyists at the firm will be dealing with everything from the opioid epidemic to copyright and communications policy, electronic health records and consumer protection. The boutique firm now has 31 different clients, with a roster that includes companies, industry groups and non-profit organizations. Founded in early 2016, Farragut Partners earned nearly $3.1 million through September.
