• David Cohen is rejoining Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck as a shareholder in the firm’s government relations department in its Washington office. He comes from Clear, the company that offers biometric screening technology at select airports to help passengers move through security quicker. At Clear, he served as chief administrative officer. Cohen previously worked for a decade at Brownstein, from 2006 to 2016, and before that held roles at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. From 1999 to 2002, Cohen was chief of staff to three leaders of the U.S. Customs Service.
• The Investment Company Institute named Christof Stahel a senior economist in industry and financial analysis for the group. Stahel was previously at the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Division of Economic and Risk Analysis, where he served as the assistant director of the Office of Asset Management.
{mosads}• Public affairs firm FleishmanHillard has brought on Geoffrey Basye and Jennifer Mitchell. Basye, who will be a senior vice president and partner in public affairs, has worked for firms and corporations including Serco, Hill+Knowlton Strategies and DCI Group in addition to serving as a White House-appointed spokesman at the Federal Aviation Administration. Mitchell is coming on as a senior vice president, leading the firm’s global social and innovation practice. She comes from MGM Resorts International, but has also worked at Alexandria, Va.-based BRG Communications, JMPR Communication and tech giant Qualcomm.
• Kivvit hired Andy Oare away from the Glover Park Group to manage the public affairs firm’s national digital strategy out of its Washington offices. Oare has experience working on the state level for former President Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 election campaigns, as well as at the Energy Department and at firm 270 Strategies.
• Jill Hoffman, formerly at the Financial Services Roundtable (FSR), has joined Capitol Counsel as a partner. At FSR, Hoffman led the industry group’s retirement security and tax advocacy practice and worked heavily on tax reform. Prior to that, she worked at the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the American Council of Life Insurers and for former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.).
