Kennedy Center
You can celebrate A Jazz New Year’s Eve at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Join Grammy winner Jon Hendricks as he rings in 2006 with the world-famous Lionel Hampton Orchestra. In addition, the Roof Terrace Restaurant is serving a $125, multicourse meal by Chef Jose Urrutia with unlimited champagne. Access is also granted to the Grand Foyer party. Three seatings, at 5, 7:15 and 9:30 p.m.

The Willard Room

The Old World-style Willard Room at the Willard InterContinental hotel is offering a $295-per-person, seven-course meal and toast with Taittinger champagne all the while. Guests will be entertained by the Patty McKay Quartet. The festivities begin at 8 p.m., with dancing at 8:30.

Music Center at Strathmore
Montgomery County’s new arts mecca hosts the National Philharmonic for a Viennese Benefit Ball to support the orchestra’s All Kids, All Free, All The Time outreach program.

Chef Bruce Barnes, a specialist in Austrian food, will prepare a three-course dinner, served in the six-story, glass-walled Lockheed Martin Lobby.

Bands will play waltzes and big-band standards.
