Do you think Donald Trump should keep quiet?

Donald Trump recently declared on CNN that George W. Bush “is probably the worst president in the history of the United States.” He also said he was torn between the presidential candidacies of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Rudy Giuliani, New York Democrat and Republican, respectively.

Rep. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho): “Yes, but he seems to know more about how to make money than I do. So somehow it’s advantageous for him to keep talking.”

Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.): “I think he has a right to speak out. He confuses reality-television with reality, but it shouldn’t inhibit [him from] opening his mouth. He has some good ideas, but this isn’t reality-TV, it is reality. I think he produces too much reality-TV — that’s his problem.”

Rep. David Obey (D-Wis.): “That’s a trivial question. There are serious things going on. I should waste my time thinking about Donald Trump? It’s a waste of time.”

Rep. Tom Reynolds (R-N.Y.): “I try not to [speak ill] of New Yorkers. Last I knew he was still living in New York.”

Rep. Brad Sherman (D-Calif.): “Since I haven’t heard him I can’t say he’s talking too much. Is that his own hair?”

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.): “I can’t answer because I’m too busy listening to Barbra Streisand and Martin Sheen.”

Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-N.Y.): “I will do what he should do and say no comment.”

Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.): “No, he’s an American citizen. He has a right to say what he wants. I have met him. We welcome The Donald in Vegas. His microphone is bigger than most.”

Sen. John Sununu (R-N.H.): “I didn’t know he was talking.”

Rep. Lacy Clay (D-Mo.): “I never knew him to have an expertise in politics. My advice to Mr. Trump would be to stick to his business acumen and stay out of the political arena. I’d like to trade places with him for one day. I can run his empire and he can run my district.”

Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.): “I think they should both shut up, but especially Rosie. Which fight are we talking about? [As for Clinton and Giuliani], he is entitled to his opinion about politics. I would prefer him to talk less about Rosie and more about Hillary and Giuliani. I do like him speaking out on Hillary and Rudy. He’s the quintessential New Yorker — loud and smart and brash.”  

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas): “No, I welcome Donald Trump’s expression regarding politics under the First Amendment. He has a worldly view and a wide view of the world. Just because you’re famous doesn’t mean you should be denied your right to the First Amendment. He is nationally known and internationally known.”

Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-N.Y.): “In this case I believe in freedom of speech. I think he’s right about George Bush.”

Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.): “I would say that the Hillary train is a long one and there’s enough room for a Trump caboose. As long as he’s fighting for Hillary he can say whatever he wants.”

Rep. Ray LaHood (R-Ill.): “I think Donald Trump is a windbag and if he shaved his head no one would speak to him. No one would talk to that guy if he didn’t have money and a fancy hairdo.”
