Is there anything you’re superstitious about?
Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.): “Certainly not a black cat because we had one for a long time.”
Rep. Nydia Velázquez (D-N.Y.): “Yes, leaving my pocketbook on the floor. It’s bad luck financially.”
Rep. Shelley Berkley (D-Nev.): “In my world, all of life is a crapshoot.”
Rep. David Wu (D-Ore.): “In traditional Chinese culture, four is an unlucky number and eight is a lucky number. Although I’ll deny being either superstitious or having any allergies, my nose does itch a little in the spring. I avoid fours and 14s.” Wu adds that in 2000, Congress passed H.R. 4444, the U.S.-China Relations Act, a trade bill. The congressman shrugs, “They didn’t know.”
Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.): “Absolutely not. None.”
Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.): “I’m very superstitious of answering drive-by questions.”
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.): “Other than a black cat or walking under a ladder? I tend not to be a very superstitious person.”
Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-Calif.): “Not necessarily, but I’m cautious.”
Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.): “I’m sure there is, but I haven’t given it much thought lately. Friday the 13th, I guess. I’ve kind of outgrown most of it.”
