JOB MOVES
Asian Pacific American Caucus member to join Obama administration; replacement transitions from legislative counsel: Vicki Tung, who works as the executive director of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, which is chaired by Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.), will be leaving her position. She will be joining the Obama administration at the Department of Commerce in the Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs division.
Gloria Chan will be the new executive director. She will transition from her position as legislative counsel for the congressman.
{mosads}Legislative and government relations specialist to join Verizon: Shirley Bloomfield, legislative and government relations specialist, will join Verizon’s federal relations office as vice president of federal government relations. She was previously at Qwest, where she ran its Washington office.
Now with Verizon, Bloomfield will focus on U.S. Senate activities and rural telecommunications policy.
Weddings and Births
Capitol Hill legislative staff find love: Olivia Kurtz, senior legislative assistant to Rep. Mike Castle (R-Del.), recently married Matthew Meyer, legislative director for Rep. Phil Roe (R-Tenn.). The couple is pictured at right.
Scalise and wife expecting: Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and his wife are expecting a child on May 8. They also have a 2-year-old daughter, Madison.
