Lipinski joins law firm

Former Rep. William Lipinski (D-Ill.) has formed a “strategic alliance” with the law and lobbying firm Dykema Gossett.

Lipinski retired from Congress in January after serving 11 terms. He represented the 3rd District, which lies just west of Chicago, from 1982 onward. Voters there are still represented by a Lipinski, William’s son Daniel, who was elected in November to replace his father.

Lipinski is prevented from lobbying his former colleagues for one year. He is acting as a consultant for the law firm and maintains an office in Chicago, although he travels to D.C. to work with lobbyists based here.

The firm noted Lipinski’s experience in transportation issues in a statement announcing the alliance. He retired as the ranking member on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Highways, Transit and Pipelines Subcommittee.
