Cantwell ventures off Capitol Hill for a workout

The members-only gyms on Capitol Hill are pretty swanky, but one senator has decided to go elsewhere for her workouts.

Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.) was spotted this week at one of the toniest gyms in Washington — Mint, a New Age spot in Adams Morgan known for having an extra good-looking clientele.

{mosads}According to a tipster, the senator sat in the ladies’ locker room for half an hour, playing her iPod, sipping coffee and intermittently chatting on the phone. The tipster overheard a conversation about Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

Cantwell’s office declined to say how often the senator hits the gym, but it’s clearly enough to keep the 51-year-old lawmaker fit.
