NAFCU’s Dan Berger fly-fishes on TV
It may sound like an oxymoron, but watching fishing on TV is big business. Just ask Dan Berger, the senior VP of government affairs at the National Association of Federal Credit Unions.
Berger was filmed this weekend at the Harman’s North Fork Invitational fly-fishing tournament, where he and teammate Nathan Sisler came in eighth place.
{mosads}The teams were both professional and amateur fly-fishermen, so placing eighth with a day job is a fine showing. According to Berger, Curtis Fleming, the host of “Fly Rod Chronicles” on the Sportsman Channel, said the tourney will air later this summer to 30 million homes.
“I have fished some small saltwater and bass tournaments in the past, but this was my first fly-fishing tournament,” Berger told ITK.
“This was an education, and quite frankly, humbling. It proves the old adage that no matter how good you think you are, there’s always someone else out there that’s better. Learned more about fly-fishing in the last two days just talking to the pros than years of waving a rod in a river.”
