C-SPAN debuts a tricked-out new ride

If you look out of a south-facing window of the Capitol this Wednesday, you’ll see an ultra-high-tech, 45-foot-long bus that looks like it houses a rock star, or maybe a well-funded political candidate.

But it doesn’t. In fact, it’s practically the opposite. It’s the new C-SPAN digital bus, and let’s just say this isn’t your mom’s congressional channel.

{mosads}The public access network is launching a brand-new, tricked-out version of its popular promotional bus, and congressional staffers and visitors are invited to check it out from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. The bus will be parked at the corner of 2nd Street and Pennsylvania Avenue SE, across from the Library of Congress.

Inside, you’ll find HD TV monitors, computer kiosks loaded with the C-SPAN video library,  laptops and mobile apps, webcams and other TV production tools.

Once it leaves D.C., the bus is set to tour the country for the summer, stopping at festivals, state capitols and the like, before coming back this fall and beginning a tour of high schools and colleges.
