Gutierrez blows kisses at fellow congressman
Despite what the pundits say, maybe all the love isn’t really lost between Democrats and Republicans.
Just ask Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.), who was caught blowing kisses across the proverbial aisle at his colleague, Rep. Steven LaTourette (R-Ohio), last week in the Speaker’s Lobby.
{mosads}At about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Gutierrez was sitting at a large oval table in the ornate hall just off the House floor, reading some papers by himself, when LaTourette walked up to the table to sit down with a reporter.
LaTourette noticed Gutierrez, and theatrically moved from the table to a couple of armchairs a few feet away. “Let’s avoid that mean man,” he told the reporter, who chuckled.
Instead of shooting him back some grief, Gutierrez, a potential Chicago mayoral candidate, puckered his lips and blew LaTourette a kiss.
When LaTourette appeared not to notice, Gutierrez tried again. “Eh!” Gutierrez yelled to the Ohio lawmaker, blowing another hyperbolic smooch his way.
LaTourette cracked up and then continued with his interview.
