Rep. McMorris-Rodgers welcomes baby girl, sets new record
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) on Wednesday became the first member of Congress to give birth twice while in office.
McMorris Rodgers and her husband, Brian Rodgers, welcomed a baby girl on Wednesday. The lawmaker declined to release the baby’s name to the media, but she was born at 12:21 a.m., weighing 8 pounds, 4.5 ounces.
{mosads}“Brian and I are overjoyed by the birth of our daughter,” McMorris Rodgers said in a statement. “Both the baby and I are healthy and doing well at the hospital. We look forward to bringing her home soon.”
The Rodgers’s first child, Cole, was born on April 29, 2007. The lawmaker and new mom was elected to Congress in 2005.
