Obama hits Facebook ahead of White House bullying conference
The president used the social-media behemoth to share a video preview of Thursday’s White House summit to address bullying in schools.
{mosads}Seated with first lady Michelle Obama, the president opened, “Hi, everybody. I’m not here to ask you to accept my friend request.”
With well over 18 million fans of his Facebook page, Obama hardly needs more love on the site.
“For a long time, bullying was treated as an unavoidable part of growing up,” he said to the camera, “but more and more, we’re seeing how harmful it can be for our kids, especially when it follows them from their school, to their phone, to their computer screen.”
Last fall, Obama taped a similar message for It Gets Better, a nationwide campaign, in response to bullying of gay young people.
