Mira Sorvino visits Capitol Hill

Also on Wednesday, Wyden and Cornyn jointly introduced the Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking Deterrence and Victims Support Act, which would create six shelters across the country for minors who have been trafficked.

{mosads}The senators introduced their bill during the last Congress, and Wyden said they had been “minutes away from passing” it. 

Sorvino and the lawmakers were joined by two survivors of child trafficking, as well as filmmaker Libby Spears, the director and producer of the documentary “Playground,” which was screened Wednesday afternoon in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. 

Sorvino wasn’t the only actress to grace Capitol Hill this week: Julia Ormond made a quiet visit on Tuesday in order to lay the groundwork for another trip later this spring, a source told ITK. Ormond, who starred in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” discreetly visited a few congressional offices to discuss human trafficking.
