Sen. Rubio is a big hit in the Senate dining room
During an appearance on C-SPAN’s “Washington Journal” program, The Weekly Standard’s Bill Kristol said he was impressed with Rubio’s “rapport with the wait staff” and people who work in the kitchen in the members’ dining room.
{mosads}Kristol, who had lunch with Rubio a few weeks ago in the Senate dining room, noted that the senator spoke in Spanish to the staff, saying the employees were anxious to meet the freshman lawmaker.
Kristol also endorsed Rubio to be on his “dream ticket” for the presidency in 2012, with the Florida senator serving as Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-Wis.) running mate.
Rubio spokesman Alex Burgos confirmed that Kristol and the son of Cuban immigrants broke bread, adding that Rubio “regularly greets and chats with those working in the Senate’s dining facilities.”
