Rep. Maxine Waters does not slip into slippers

The congresswoman told CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer on Monday that when it comes to nighttime footwear, her feet are left out in the cold.

{mosads}The revelation came during a discussion of President Obama’s Saturday night speech to the Congressional Black Caucus, where he told the crowd to “take off your bedroom slippers. Put on your marching shoes,” and to “shake it off. Stop complaining, stop grumbling, stop crying.”

On his show, Blitzer questioned whether Waters would “take off [her] slippers and get out there and march with him.”

Waters replied, “I’ve never owned a pair of bedroom slippers.”

While Waters might be lacking a pair of evening kicks, there is one thing she certainly isn’t in need of — a box of tissues.

Nearing the end of the interview, Blitzer confirmed with the congresswoman that “you’re not complaining, you’re not grumbling, you’re not crying — he is not talking about you.”

“Maxine Waters doesn’t cry,” she replied. “Maxine Waters works.”
