Elizabeth Warren woos Hollywood honchos

Some of the biggest names in film and TV are rallying behind a Democrat who’s aiming to snag the Senate seat of Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) next year.

{mosads}“All in the Family” producer Norman Lear and his wife are hosting a $1,000-to-$5,000-a-plate fundraiser for Elizabeth Warren on Tuesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Some of the co-hosts of the pricey shindig include Barbra Streisand, producer Steve Bing and former Universal Pictures President Sid Sheinberg. Warren’s no newcomer to the celebrity scene. The paper reported that after movie composer Hans Zimmer spotted a clip of her speaking at a California university, he introduced Warren to some high-profile stars, including Ron Howard. Warren’s name also appeared in the credits of a 2010 Funny or Die video featuring Will Ferrell and Jim Carrey. The clip was viewed more than 4 million times on the site.

A spokesman for Warren’s Democratic opponent, Alan Khazei, blasted the Senate hopeful’s Tinseltown and D.C. donors and attempted to paint the candidate as an inside-the-Beltway politician. Scott Ferson told the Boston Herald last week, “Why have a Massachusetts primary when the Washington, D.C., insiders have already held their own and elected Elizabeth Warren?”
