The Virginia Democrat and part-time thespian played the role of a wallpaper decorator over the weekend, appearing in his final two performances of “Auntie Mame” at a Falls Church, Va., community center.
{mosads}The lawmaker has had a long-term love affair with local theater. Some of the roles he has played in the past couple of years have included the judge in an adaptation of “The Laramie Project” and a taxi driver in the play “Harvey.”
Connolly admitted in a statement that while it’s “hard” to juggle his congressional schedule with his theatrical roles, he hopes his work on the stage raises awareness about community theater groups.
