Fashion designer Tory Burch: DC style is ‘evolving’
While D.C.’s style isn’t known for being particularly inspiring, super-hot designer Tory Burch has a more PC description of the city’s fashion sense, saying she thinks it’s simply “evolving.”
ITK caught up with the fashionista as she opened up her Tysons Galleria boutique on Thursday for a fundraiser for the Rebecca Project for Human Rights, a group that pushes for policy reform for females affected by violence.
{mosads}Burch says while there’s a “level of conservatism” in the wardrobe choices of Washington women, she has some tips for going from buttoned-up Capitol Hill worker by day to bewitching by night: “I think what’s great about that look is that you can make it day to evening. It’s sort of like taking a suit and dressing it up for nighttime. You can do that with a suit or with tweed dresses, and you can really snazz it up with cool jewelry.”
The District might be able to get a little more styling help from the designer. Burch, who has 36 eponymous stores throughout the country, mentioned that she’s considering opening an accessories-and-handbag shop in Georgetown.
