Fred Thompson spotted in his old stomping grounds

Fred Thompson made yet another cameo appearance Tuesday — but this time he showed up in the Senate instead of “Law & Order.”

The former Republican senator from Tennessee and 2008 presidential candidate hung out in Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) office before the weekly GOP policy lunch. When the food bell rang, he walked through his old stomping grounds with his successor, fellow Tennessean Sen. Lamar Alexander (R), to get a bite to eat.

{mosads}“I was wandering around the Senate grounds and saw Lamar, and I decided to come in and get a meal,” he said in explaining what brought him back to Capitol Hill.

Thompson seems to do it all these days. He wrote a book last year, appeared on the hit CBS show “The Good Wife” earlier this year and just wrapped a yet-to-be-revealed feature film shot on Long Island, N.Y. (“I’m not the publicist for it, so I don’t want to get out in front of it,” he said.)

But there’s one thing the goateed actor is not prepared to do yet — endorse a candidate in the GOP presidential primary.

“I don’t have any inclinations right now,” he said after giving a quick “nope” when asked if he had any advice for the scandal-plagued Herman Cain.
