Obama’s TV favorites: ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘Homeland’

President Obama admitted in an interview with People magazine that his must-see TV choices aren’t quite family-friendly fare.

One of his top picks, he says, is the HBO Prohibition-era drama, “Boardwalk Empire.” The often über-violent series stars Steve Buscemi as the embattled and corrupt treasurer of Atlantic City, N.J.

{mosads}More than 3 million viewers tuned in for the series’s shocker of a season finale Sunday. We won’t ruin the ending in case you haven’t seen it yet, Mr. President.

Obama also says he’s a fan of Showtime’s “Homeland,” about a CIA officer investigating a Marine held captive by al Qaeda.

The president tells the glossy that he realizes his TV viewing habits are “a little darker,” and when he’s looking for a show he can watch with his kids, Malia, 13, and Sasha, 10, he turns to ABC: “For the girls and me, ‘Modern Family,’ that’s our favorite show.”

And now, the president says, the first family will finally be able to see their favorite shows even if they miss them when they first air. Calling the White House “a little bit behind,” Obama discloses that a DVR system was just installed.
