GOP attacks Stabenow
Republicans are slamming Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D) for, they say, spending her Senate recess fundraising in New York instead of tending to her constituents back home in economically strapped Michigan.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and the Michigan Republican Party issued statements yesterday condemning Stabenow for attending the $25,000-per-person “economic forum” at Manhattan’s St. Regis Hotel. DSCC Chairman Charles Schumer, New York’s senior senator, hosted the event.
A Democratic source in Michigan shrugged off the Republican attacks, saying the senator would also be spending the weeklong break at home meeting with an Arab-American group, a lawyers association, local Democrats and constituents in Flint, Mich.
