Gillibrand has a fan in actress America Ferrera

America Ferrera, the star of “Ugly Betty” and “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” — who was at the Cannon House Office Building on Thursday to launch her “America4America” online campaign with the nonpartisan group Voto Latino — says she “would love” to get some face time with a New York Democrat.

Sadly, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s office didn’t get back to us on Ferrera’s wish before deadline.

{mosads}Ferrera’s Capitol Hill bucket list doesn’t end there. While the 28-year-old entertainer tells ITK exclusively in an email “it was exciting” to meet Reps. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Charles Gonzalez (D-Texas) at the Voto Latino event, which was aimed toward connecting voters with the celeb and getting them involved in conversations about the issues, she’d also like a meeting with Supreme Court Justice Sonia

Sotomayor. She says, “I’ve only had the chance to say hello to her in passing.”

But Ferrera, who’s currently shooting the movie “Chavez,” in which she plays Latino civil-rights activist Cesar Chavez’s wife, Helen, remains coy about which White House contender will get her vote come November. She says she’ll support “whichever candidate I feel is committed to representing their constituencies to the fullest, and has the guts to make decisions that are right for our future, even if they’re not politically expedient right now.”

Even though her name seems perfectly suited for a life in politics, the big-screen star (who shares the surname of her Honduras-born mother) reveals she wasn’t always a fan of her patriotic moniker: “America was a hard name to grow up with because it’s an easy one to get teased for. But I love my name now, and I think it suits me perfectly.”
