Brown gets a sweet parking spot, for now
Speaking on “Fox and Friends” the morning after Brown’s win in the race to fill the seat previously held by the late Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.), McConnell grinned as he noted Brown’s travel plans.
{mosads}“I hope you give him a really good parking place right near the Capitol,” said a host.
“He can park anywhere he’d like,” the lawmaker replied.
Well, that’s not entirely true.
According to a spokeswoman for the Senate Rules Committee, Brown will be granted a parking allocation for his entire office. “He can park his vehicle in any of the spaces assigned to him.”
For the time being, Capitol historian Don Ritchie says those spaces are likely to be the ones under the Russell Building, formerly occupied by Kennedy and his staff.
But come next January, when a new crop of senators arrives, Brown can expect to be reassigned to an office, and a set of parking spots, that better reflect his junior status.
