Sen. Warner warns he may start drooling
Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) warned his colleagues on Monday that he could start drooling at any moment, and urged them to yell, “Wipe!” if he did.
Warner was speaking at an early morning press conference on financial regulatory reform, but as he explained, he’d already been through enough that morning to make him nervous about appearing before the cameras.
{mosads}“I mentioned to the chairman earlier that I had major dental activity early,” he said, “and … half of my mouth is a little numb here.
“So if I start drooling during the middle of this,” Warner half-slurred, “I’d ask somebody to kind of raise their hand and say, ‘Wipe’ or something.”
The room erupted in laughter.
Banking Committee Chairman Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), who was leading the presser, jumped in, “But your brain is OK, right?”
Warner responded, “Well, a part of my brain, at least.”
