Television star Matthew Perry is facing criticism from fans who accuse the actor of profiting off of the pandemic by marketing COVID-19-related apparel ahead of the show’s reunion special.
The 51-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of Chandler Bing on the ’90s sitcom, posted images on social media featuring him donning a black shirt with the phrase, “could I be any more vaccinated,” The New York Post reported.
“Could I BE Any More Vaccinated? Get your shot and then get your shirt,” Perry tweeted. “Shop the entire collection at http://represent.com/matthewperry Only available for a limited time.”
Data shows that nearly 50 percent of the U.S. population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine while 39.3 percent have been fully vaccinated.

Perry’s “Friends” reunion merchandise premiered last week, and the new shirts are priced at $26.99. But some fans are not happy and criticized the actor for apparently plotting to make money off of a global virus that has taken more than 3 million lives.
One fan accused the actor of “bad taste” while another suggested the shirt was merely comical, according to the Post. Perry’s apparel was also labeled as business as usual for celebrities who capitalize on their popularity. Meanwhile, another commenter challenged the accusations, adding that nobody is forcing anyone to purchase the merchandise.
“Friends: The Reunion” premieres Thursday, May 27, on HBO Max.
