“It seems that the games you have played with the crypto markets have destroyed lives. Millions of retail investors were really counting on their crypto gains to improve their lives,” the individual says in the video.
“As hardworking people have their dreams liquidated over your public temper tantrums, you continue to mock them with memes from one of your million-dollar mansions,” the person says.
“You may think you are the smartest person in the room, but now you have met your match. We are Anonymous! We are Legion! Expect us,” they add.
The video has been viewed more than 2 million times on YouTube.
The comments come as Musk has tweeted humorous or obscure remarks about various cryptocurrencies over the months, often influencing the price of tokens such as Dogecoin and Bitcoin.
Musk caused a huge spike in Bitcoin in February after announcing Tesla bought $1.5 billion worth of the cryptocurrency and later revealing it would be accepted as payment. He later backtracked on that claim due to Bitcoin’s huge carbon footprint, causing the price to take a dive.
On Friday, Musk suggested a split with bitcoin by posting a meme about a couple breaking up along with the bitcoin hashtag and a broken heart emoji.
The price of Bitcoin fell by nearly 7 percent following the tweet, according to Coindesk.
While it’s difficult to confirm whether the video was published by the infamous hacker group, Forbes reports the most popular Twitter account associated with the group has denied putting out the video.
