A tourist who created a drunken scene at Yellowstone National Park has been fined, sentenced to 60 days in jail and banned from the park, authorities said Wednesday.
Thirty-one-year old Kyle Campbell of Indiana pleaded guilty to numerous criminal charges for the incident on June 23. Authorities said Campbell “created a disturbance” when a kayak guide refused to take his group on a tour because he believed they were too drunk.
The kayak guide eventually called authorities and Campbell allegedly “struggled and kicked at the rangers, resisting arrest and later injuring himself while banging his head in the patrol car,” according to a news release from the U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Wyoming.

“We understand that people are eager to get out this summer and enjoy our national parks; however, this type of behavior is unacceptable. Thanks to the quick actions taken by park rangers and the park vendor’s security officers, no one was seriously harmed,” Acting United States Attorney Bob Murray said in the release.
“Stay sober, because unruly and intoxicated behavior will only earn you a spot with the jailbirds rather than enjoying the beauty and adventure of Yellowstone,” Murray added.
Campbell was also sentenced to five years of unsupervised probation, ordered to pay more than $1,500 in fines and banned from Yellowstone for five years.
