Two suspects arrested in shooting of crime reporter

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to the shooting of Dutch crime reporter Peter R. de Vries.

De Vries, known for his investigative crime reporting, was shot while leaving RTL broadcasting studio last week.

Authorities initially detained three suspects but have since released one, saying they no longer believe he is involved.

The two remaining suspects have been identified by authorities as Delano G., 21, and Kamil Pawel E., 35. The last names have been withheld by authorities in accordance with Dutch law.

It has been reported by The Daily Beast and other outlets that Delano, an aspiring rapper, appeared as a teenager on “So You Think You Can Dance?,” and Kamil was born in Poland and does “assembly work.”

No motive has been given at this time.

De Vries garnered acclaim for his journalism detailing the 1983 kidnapping of beer tycoon Freddy Heineken, as well as his reporting on the 2005 disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba, for which he won an International Emmy Award.

De Vries remains in critical condition.
