Rock legend Stevie Nicks has canceled her remaining 2021 performance dates due to the worsening COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. fueled by the delta variant.
The Fleetwood Mac singer had been scheduled to perform at festivals in Colorado, California, Texas and Louisiana starting in early September.
On Tuesday, she announced she was canceling her gigs through the rest of the year.
“These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made. I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us,” Nicks said in a statement posted to social media.

“While I’m vaccinated, at my age, I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the 5 performances I had planned for 2021. Because singing and performing have been my whole life, my primary goal is to keep healthy so I can continue singing for the next decade or longer,” Nicks wrote.
Nicks said she was “devastated” but said fans should look towards a “brighter 2022.”
The singer was scheduled to perform at the Jazz Aspen Festival, BottleRock Napa Valley and both weekends at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. She was also set to play at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which has been canceled altogether.
The move comes as the U.S. is averaging about 100,000 new coronavirus cases per day and hospitalizations are on the rise.
