The news comes amid a report from Page Six that claims the famous rapper is teaming up with Fanatics’ Michael Rubin to make a proposal to the New York State Gaming Commission, which is expected to begin allowing mobile sports betting next year.

Page Six cites redacted documents released last week in which a source alleges Jay-Z’s name is the name blocked out. The outlet states Jay-Z would serve as the vice chairman, as well as be a member of the board of directors, for a new Fanatics Betting & Gaming endeavor.
The source stated Jay-Z may have a leg up on the competition as the only African American investor involved and his ties to the state.
Other companies and groups bidding for the New York licenses include FanDuel, DraftKings and Bally’s, among others.
