Katie Couric, once a former “Today” anchor on NBC and host of “CBS Evening News” from 2006 to 2011, was reportedly set to promote her new memoir, “Going There,” on “CBS This Morning” with Gayle King, Page Six reported.

But the spot was canceled. In the book, Couric was critical of her former employer.

She referred to “CBS This Morning” as “a cheap imitation of the other two” morning shows – ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today.

When her ratings for the CBS Evening News were underwhelming, then-CBS boss Les Moonves tried to switch Couric to the morning show, Page Six reported.

“‘You’re so great at it, and they could really use your help,’ ” Couric recalls Moonves saying to her, according to Page Six. In response she said, “Absolutely not … I didn’t leave the morning show I helped make number one so I could go to the third-place morning show.”

She added, “I had come here to accomplish something, and if it didn’t work, it didn’t work. I’d rather leave the network than retreat to the morning show.”

As Changing America previously reported, Couric somewhat defended Moonves’ character after multiple sexual harassment allegations.

“I always liked Les Moonves, even though he was a close-talker with bad breath,” Page Six reported.

“At an affiliates’ meeting, Les would smugly disclose how he finally got me to say yes: ‘We drank many bottles of expensive wine on the sofa in my apartment … Don’t worry, my wife was in the next room.’ Hardee-har, Les,” Couric wrote describing her arrival at CBS.

Page Six states that there had been discussions on having Couric talk about her book on “CBS Sunday Morning” as well, but after certain revelations, it appears that has also been canceled.
