One of Bill Cosby’s sexual assault accusers has filed a new lawsuit against the actor following his release from prison.
Artist Lili Bernard filed the lawsuit against Cosby Thursday, stemming from a 1990 incident in Atlantic City, N.J., before the state’s statute of limitations on filing sexual assault claims expires.
Bernard, 57, alleges that Cosby drugged and raped her in an Atlantic City hotel room in 1990 when she was 26.
“When Bill Cosby was released, it retraumatized me, it terrified me. I was really horrified for any woman or girl that would come into contact with him,” Bernard told The Associated Press. “The Pennsylvania supreme court let a predator back on the streets.”

On Sept. 25, 2018, Cosby was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison and designated a sex offender following his conviction on three counts of aggravated indecent assault.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned Cosby’s 2018 sexual assault conviction, citing prosecutorial mistakes, and he was released from prison in June.
In response to the new lawsuit, Cosby’s spokesperson Andrew Wyatt told the AP, “This is just another attempt to abuse the legal process, by opening up the flood gates for people who never presented an ounce of evidence.”
Changing America doesn’t reveal the names of sexual assault victims, however, Bernard previously identified herself.
