A British bakery used an illegal substance for its goods, and now it is using it to garner more publicity online.
Rich Myers, founder of Get Baked bakery in Leeds, now called Sprinklegate, told CNN that Trading Standards, the government agency charged with enforcing business regulation, was tipped off that his local business was using illegal sprinkles.

The business is fairly new, having opened in July.
Myers said he got his sprinkles at a British wholesaler, but upon closer inspection, the sprinkles, which contain red pieces, use red food coloring E127.
In the U.K., E127 is outlawed unless used with cocktail cherries and candied cherries.
The sprinkles are a key component to the bakery’s most popular cookie, the raspberry-glazed doughnut cookie, as well as the birthday giant cake called Bruce.
On Oct. 1, Myers told CNN, the bakery received “a lovely visit from Trading Standards” — the government agency charged with enforcing business regulation — “after someone reported us for using what are apparently illegal sprinkles.”
He told CNN that since the bakery’s opening in July, he had been using sprinkles purchased from a British wholesaler.
“I thought it was a joke at first, I thought it was someone pulling a prank,” Myers told CNN.
Trading Standard told Myers that he must cease using his American sprinkles.
“It is HIGHLY unlikely that we will find any legal sprinkles that we will use as a replacement,” he posted on social media. “British sprinkles just aren’t the same, they’re totally s*** and I hate them.
“I am extremely passionate about sprinkles…I need to think this one over, we will obviously need to make some adjustments to the menu in order to compensate for this truly horrendous ordeal.”
“One option, where the RGDCs are concerned, is to glaze them as normal, but just not use sprinkles. It makes me sick just thinking about it,” Myers said.
