The National Football League is pushing back on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers after he said an NFL doctor told him “it’s impossible for a vaccinated person to get Covid or spread Covid.”
Rodgers made the claim during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Sirius XM on Friday.
“No doctor from the league or the joint NFL-NFLPA infectious disease consultants communicated with the player,” the NFL said in a statement to Pro Football Talk. “If they had, they certainly would have never said anything like that.”
Rodgers tested positive for the coronavirus on Nov. 3 and it was soon revealed that he was unvaccinated, though it had previously been believed that he was, as in late August Rodgers told an ESPN reporter he had been “immunized,” though he didn’t specify for COVID-19 at the time.
While on “The Pat McAfee Show,” Rodgers said of his decision to not be vaccinated, “If I test in the morning, and I wear a mask in the entire facility, and you want me to wear a mask just to shame me that I’m not vaccinated, to continue to perpetuate a story that I’m not vaccinated, in a room where the only way you can get in that room is if you’re fully vaccinated against a virus that I don’t have as an unvaccinated person. … So it was my opinion that that wasn’t rooted in any science.”

Rodgers also claimed to be allergic to an ingredient in both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Following the revelation that he was unvaccinated, Rodgers lost his partnership with Prevea Health.
“Prevea Health remains deeply committed to protecting its patients, staff, providers and communities amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes encouraging and helping all eligible populations to become vaccinated against COVID-19 to prevent the virus from further significantly impacting lives and livelihoods,” Prevea Health said in a statement.
During Rodger’s radio appearance, he also said he had consulted with podcast host Joe Rogan and was trying a number of treatments.
“I’ve been taking monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, zinc, vitamin C and D, HCQ (Hydroxychloroquine) … and I feel pretty incredible,” Rodgers said.
The FDA has not authorized the use of ivermectin to prevent or treat COVID-19, and monoclonal antibodies are typically reserved for the most severe COVID-19 cases.
