NASA is offering a unique way for people to participate in its upcoming Artemis 1 mission later this year by giving them a chance to have their names flown around the moon.
“We’re getting ready for #Artemis I — and we want to take you with us,” NASA recently posted on Twitter.
Participant names will be saved on a flash drive and will be transported on the Orion capsule at no cost to the individual. Anyone interested may sign up on NASA’s website and will receive a virtual boarding pass with their name and flight details.
Users will be directed to enter a 4-to-7-digit pin code, which will be needed to access their virtual boarding pass in the future.

The agency said Artemis 1 will be the first uncrewed flight test of the Space Launch System rocket and the Orion spacecraft, noting “the mission will be the first in a series of increasingly complex missions to build a long-term human presence at the Moon for decades to come.”
“The flight paves the way toward landing the first woman and the first person of color on the Moon,” the agency added.
The launch will take place at Kennedy Space Center in Florida although there is not a precise launch date.
