As Hurricane Larry lingers off of the East Coast, bringing rain and large surf to the coastal states, Tropical Storm Mindy follows its path, slicing through southeastern states like Georgia and the Florida panhandle.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) confirms reports of Mindy bringing rains to portions of South Carolina on Thursday, after forming on the northeastern part of the Gulf of Mexico.
While the rainfall is expected to be relatively light, flash flooding in urban and rural areas is possible.
Mindy made landfall early Thursday morning along the Florida panhandle, according to local outlets, with maximum wind speeds at 35 miles per hour. It dumped about 6 inches of rain in parts of southeast Georgia and coastal South Carolina.
The storm is tracking northeast and is set to move into the Atlantic by Thursday evening, where it will dissipate.
Mindy formed relatively quickly and made landfall in a short amount of time, but the storm spared the region hurricane conditions seen with the devastating Hurricane Ida.
