New video shows the moments Coast Guard crew members rescued 10 people from the severe flooding that slammed the Pacific Northwest Monday.
The video tweeted by the Coast Guard Pacific Northwest shows several instances of crews hoisting adults and children stranded on roofs into a helicopter as floodwaters raged around them.
The Coast Guard said six adults and four children, including one baby, were rescued in Forks, Wash., during the operation Monday.
Crews were unable to get to the stranded residents by boat due to “excessive currents,” and had to access them by air, according to KGW8.

The rescue was one of many in the region as an atmospheric river unleashed heavy rainfall over western Washington and parts of Canada.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) issued a severe weather emergency proclamation for 14 western Washington counties to direct state resources to do “everything reasonably possible” to help those negatively affected by the weather, as some areas logged up to 6 inches of rain over the past several days.
Whatcom County officials said about 500 people were displaced in the north and northeast areas of the county due to flooding, and hundreds were moved to shelter locations. Emergency officials in the county were conducting search and rescue missions Monday night.
At one point Monday nearly 160,000 people were without power in the region. By Tuesday afternoon, fewer than 50,000 were still without electricity, according to poweroutage.us.
In Canada, nearly 300 people trapped in their cars by several mudslides that blocked a highway were rescued using military helicopters, according to CBC news.
