The team allowed fans to purchase a two-seat pod in the Plaza Infield for 100 Dogecoin for the May 3-6 series.

Earlier this year, the ball club began accepting cryptocurrency bitcoin for purchases of full-season suites.

The NBA’s Dallas Mavericks earlier this year became the first professional sports team to accept Dogecoin ticket transactions.

Dogecoin is a cryptocurrency much like bitcoin that enables peer-to-peer transactions across a decentralized network. However, Dogecoin was started as a joke in 2013 at a time when the cryptocurrency boom was in its infancy.

The cryptocurrency trades under the symbol “DOGE” and features the face of a shiba inu from the viral meme as its logo.

On Tuesday, Dogecoin broke above 50 cents per share for the first time and was traded around 67 cents Wednesday morning.

In recent months, the cryptocurrency has been championed by billionaires like Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

This week’s surge comes as Musk is set to appear on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” with some speculating he may tout the cryptocurrency on national television and boost demand.
