A 22-year-old New York woman is missing after she embarked on a cross-country trip with her boyfriend and he returned home to Florida without her.
The family of Gabby Petito say she left for a road trip with her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, on July 2 from Blue Point, N.Y.
The couple had been documenting much of the road trip on YouTube and social media, and Petito stayed in touch with her family throughout.

However, she hasn’t been seen since Aug. 24, and her family hasn’t heard from her since that day when she Facetimed her mother. She is believed to have been in the area of Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming at that time.
“I did receive a text from her on the 27th and the 30th, but I don’t know if it was technically her or not, because it was just a text,” Petito’s mother, Nicole Schmidt, told Fox News. “I didn’t verbally speak to her.”
Schmidt reported Petito missing on Sept. 11.
Laundrie has since returned to his home in Florida, and the van the two were traveling in has been has been recovered. It’s been reported Laundrie isn’t cooperating with authorities.
“I just want people to keep looking and not stop until we find her,” Schmidt told Newsday. “We won’t stop until we find her.”
