Father and son Greg and Travis McMichael and their neighbor William Bryan will be sentenced on Jan. 7, 2022, Superior Court Judge Timothy Walmsley ruled on Monday.
Travis McMichael shot Arbery on Feb. 23, 2020, having followed him in a pickup truck with Greg McMichael and Bryan after having seen Arbery running in the neighborhood. The McMichaels and Bryan claimed they had been attempting to make a citizen’s arrest, believing Arbery, a Black man, had committed recent burglaries in the area.

In November, Travis McMichael, 35, was found guilty of the nine counts brought against him, including malice murder. Greg McMichael was found guilty on four counts of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of false imprisonment and one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony. William Bryan was found guilty of three counts of felony murder, one count of aggravated assault, one count of false imprisonment and one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Malice and felony murder convictions each carry a minimum sentencing of life in prison, whereas aggravated assault carries a entence of one to 20 years and false imprisonment a sentence of one to 10 years.
