Business Insider first reported the news of Facebook partially converting its Menlo Park, Calif., campus into a vaccine site.
“We’re partnering with Ravenswood Family Health Network to convert part of our headquarters into a vaccination site for hard-hit communities,” Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg said on Friday morning on her Facebook page. “We’re also teaming up with the State of California and local nonprofits to support mobile vaccination clinics in four of the state’s hardest hit regions.”

Ravenswood Family Health Network is a federally qualified health center headquartered in the East Palo Alto area of San Mateo County, a low-income area.
Ravenswood’s partnership with Facebook began on Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 12:30 pm to 4 pm.
“Ravenswood serves an at-risk community of all ages, regardless of ability to pay. With a commitment to quality, accessible healthcare for all, we deliver comprehensive primary care with compassion and dignity,” Ravenswood said on its Facebook page. “As a nationally recognized health care model, we’re helping pilot the transformation of preventative and transitional care in the U.S. to keep people out of emergency rooms and reduce readmissions to hospitals for chronic disease.”
Sandberg stated the intended goal of the partnership was to provide “underserved” communities early access to the vaccines that have been distributed in wealthier neighborhoods despite COVID-19 hitting more impoverished communities the hardest.
Sandberg said she was inspired by Facebook users who used the platform to alert the elderly where to get vaccinated.
“I’ve been so inspired seeing people use Facebook Groups to help the elderly sign up for vaccine appointments,” Sandberg said. “I hope that everyone will get vaccinated once they’re eligible to protect themselves and their loved ones, so we can bring an end to the pandemic.”
