Model Julian Scott has been working for the last three years under the elite agency New York Model Management, snagging notable campaigns for major brands such as Gap, Levis and Under Armour, all at the young age of 13. The impressive feats are further underscored by the seventh grader’s “invisible disability,” an autism spectrum disorder known as Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NVLD).
NVLD is described as a neurological condition that causes difficulties with visual-spatial information, motor skills and processing nonverbal cues, which can include other people’s body language and facial expressions.
Comedian Chris Rock recently revealed that he has NVLD.

“Julian has challenges, but when he is being photographed, they disappear,” Melissa Reale, Scott’s mom, told the New York Post. “Outside of the stage, he struggles with impulsivity and lack of focus both academically and socially.”
Since he was signed in 2018, Scott has traveled the United States for photoshoots and runway shoots, including to major cities such as Baltimore and Boston. The money he earns all goes toward his college fund.
Megan Klein, Scott’s agent, referred to the teenager as “a natural.”
“He came into the business later in his youth relative to most models in his age group, which is an obstacle in and of itself,” she said. “Yet he’s thrived.”
Most recently, Scott appeared in a global campaign for Teen Gap’s spring line. But the recognition and monetary compensation are small triumphs in the face of what truly motivates the young teenager.
“Modeling,” Scott said, “has made me feel good about myself.”
