U.S. Capitol Police said they were called to the building in response to the protest around 3:30 P.M, and they took demonstrators who chose not to comply with their orders into custody.
“After officers arrived at the scene, they warned the demonstrators three times to stop. Those who refused were arrested,” the statement said.
The Democrat later tweeted the hashtag “good trouble” in reference to a famous quote from civil rights icon John Lewis.
“You must find a way to get in the way and get in good trouble, necessary trouble,” Lewis said in 2016.“You have a moral obligation, a mission and a mandate, when you leave here, to go out and seek justice for all. You can do it. You must do it.”

Beatty said in a statement following her arrest that she continued to “stand in solidarity with Black women and allies across the country in defense” of the right to vote.
“We have come too far and fought too hard to see everything systematically dismantled and restricted by those who wish to silence us,” Beatty continued. “Be assured that this is just the beginning. This is Our Power, Our Message.”
