The event is a nationally recognized campaign. Pepsi is heavily promoting the nation’s Capitol for being home to several Black-owned businesses
Of all of the businesses in DC, 28 percent of them are Black-owned, serving as the perfect launchpad for the campaign.
This weekend, Dig In Day Food Truck will attend a B1G football game between the University of Maryland and Pennsylvania State University at College Park, Md. – five miles outside of district boundaries.
Dig In Day is sponsored by PepsiCo with the goal of raising $100 million in sales at Black-owned restaurants, including local favorites like Ben’s Chili Bowl, Soup Up, Negril DC, Fish in the Neighborhood, The Carolina Kitchen, and many more in DC Metro, over the next five years.
On the campaign’s website, patrons interested in supporting the cause can look up Black-owned restaurants nearby their locations.
Those who save their receipts and upload them to DigInPassport will automatically be entered for a chance to win culinary rewards.
