On Earth Day 2021 — on Thursday, April 22 — climate activist Greta Thunberg will testify before Congress during a special hearing dedicated to conservation and climate change initiatives.
Politico reports that Thunberg, aged 18, will testify before a House Oversight Committee panel within the hearing “The Role of Fossil Fuel Subsidies in Preventing Action on the Climate Crisis.”

The hearing will be led by the Oversight Environmental Subcommittee Chair Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) The subcommittee has jurisdiction over climate change, environmental protection, public lands, endangered species, air and water quality, international accords, energy policy and research, among other relevant topics.
Thunberg was chosen as Time Magazine’s 2019 Person of the Year for her carbon-free crossing of the Atlantic and speech during the U.N. Climate Change COP24 conference.
