Ford Motor is introducing its new line of pickup trucks that are gas-electric hybrids called the Maverick and it is affordable at $20,000.
On Tuesday, joining its F-150 and Ranger pickup line, the Maverick, which is set to be the smallest of the trucks, about 3 feet shorter in length and 7 inches lower than an F-150, will be available in 2022, according to CNBC.

The entry level pickup comes at a time when trucks have seen a surge in popularity, according to Cox Automotive.
The five-passenger, four-door pickup hybrid has an EPA-estimated 40 mpg fuel economy in city driving and is expected to have 500 miles of range on a single tank of gas. The compacted truck is also unibody, which means its bed and its cab side are constructed as one unit. With its frame bolted on top of the car, the body of the Maverick is interval to its structure, unlike the F-150 or Ranger.
“Maverick challenges the status quo and the stereotypes of what a pickup truck can be,” Todd Eckert, Ford truck group marketing manager, said in a statement. “We believe it will be compelling to a lot of people who never before considered a truck.”
The company unveiled the compact pickup Tuesday as the smallest vehicle in its highly profitable truck lineup, slotting below the full-size F-150 and midsize Ranger pickups. The Maverick is about 3 feet shorter in length and 7 inches lower than an F-150, Ford said.
Ford officials are hyping up the hybrid to be the “truck for people who never knew they wanted a truck.”
The truck is also aimed at city consumers, who, as Changing America previously reported, some have returned their EVs due to charging limitations.
