The leaders of Joshua Tree National Park in California announced they will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday to discuss a new Climbing Management Plan.
During the meeting, leaders will interact with the public about implementing a new plan to address growing issues with the deterioration of the park’s climbing paths and routes due to use.

“We look forward to engaging the public about the development of Joshua Tree’s climbing management plan. Issues around rock-based recreation have been developing over the years and the park needs to address these issues to ensure park resources are conserved for future generations,” said David Smith, superintendent of Joshua Tree National Park.
Park leaders hope to develop and institute a new plan that will allow visitors to still enjoy the nearly 800,000-acre park while better preserving its natural resources and wildlife.
